Good Deal Thrift Store held a Community Appreciation Spring Blowout Sale Friday May 3 selling everything in the store at half price and giving away free hot dogs to customers.
The event was held to give thanks to the community for its support and continuing donations to the store.
It also provided an opportunity for the community to meet the employees and learn about why the store was created.
Good Deal Thrift Store was created to employ citizens with developmental disabilities. The store employs 10 local residents.
Good Deal is a nonprofit business. According to Janie Kilpatrick from Good Deal, the money made by the store goes into operational costs and providing salary for employees.
Kilpatrick said that everything the store sells is donated to them. The store has been open for two and a half years through the donations of the public.
“We couldn’t exist with community support,” admitted Kilpatrick. She said that the people who come in the store are not just customers but friends and the store has several regulars.
