Demolition crews arrived last week at the site of the old Safeway building on west Main Street to begin demolishing the building.
The building is located in the 1200 block of West Main Street, and that block was a residential neighborhood until late 1975 when construction of the building began that originally housed Safeway grocery store, the name of which later changed to Homeland until its closure in the 1990s.
CustomerLinx, now called Alorica, occupied the building for several years until moving to Radio Road. The building has been vacant for the past few years and on Tuesday, it was being torn down to make way for a CVS Pharmacy.
