The Durant Area Chamber of Commerce held a farewell gathering for Durant Main Street Director Beverly Hemphill on Monday evening.
Hemphill is leaving Durant to move to Stillwater with her fiancé Roland Fanning. Hemphill is set to wed Fanning November 17.
Fanning recently obtained a position as assistant baseball coach at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
“Beverly will be very missed,” said Durant Main Street President Chris Earthman.
Earthman then said it will be difficult to find a replacement not only for Hemphill but her family who has supported the Main Street program.
Hemphill was presented with an orange and black bracelet, farewell card and picture frame signed by all in attendence at the gathering.
Hemphill has been working as Main Street Director for the past two years and said what she will miss most are the people in Durant.
“Everyone has been so nice and supportive of me,” said Hemphill. She said she will be moving to a town that has a Durant feel but bigger.
Hemphill said she is excited to take what she has learned in Durant over the past two years and apply it to her new position in the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce.
