‘Elvis’ performs in Market Square

Elvis week in Durant ended Saturday evening with a concert by a “King” impersonator complete with leis, sunglasses and snacks all free to the public.More than 100 Durant locals headed out to Market Square to hear “Elvis” perform his hit songs. The Elvis impersonator sang for approximately 30 minutes before rain ended the concert.The concert ended the week-long, Elvis-themed awareness campaign in Durant for Alzheimer’s Disease. A cardboard cutout of Elvis traveled Main Street stores last week promoting Main Street shopping and calling attention to the disease.The concert was to end Elvis Week and collect donations for Alzheimer’s research, which is the most common form of dementia.

 

Renewal of Marine trailer contract announced

McALESTER – Choctaw Defense has announced a $15 million contract renewal for Marine Tactical Vehicle Replacement Trailers.“This is a continuation of a contract we’ve had for seven years,” said Stephen Benefield, President and CEO of Choctaw Defense. “We expect to be in the contract for several more years.”
