Durant gymnast Hanna Nutter competed in a meet February 10 – 12 in Norman and Oklahoma City that drew 2,000 gymnasts from around the world. Nutter trains with Big C.A.T.S. Gymnastics & Tumbling in Atoka.

She competes in the American Athletics Union (AAU) gymnastics league, which is highly competitive. Each gymnast performs a unique routine on the uneven bars, balance beam, vault and floor, and receives a point score for each event. Gymnasts are then ranked by these scores in each event, and each event’s score is totaled for all-around placings.

Nutter, an 11-year-old student at Durant Intermediate School, placed eighth all-around in her level and age division and came in fifth on uneven bars.

Gym owner Melissa Grace said she was honored to have gymnasts invited to this prestigious meet.

“This high-pressure meet was a great experience for our most talented gymnasts,” Grace said. “I was pleased with their performances, but even more so with their grace and confidence.”

Big C.A.T.S. offers recreational and competitive gymnastics for boys and girls from babies up to age 16. For more information, go to www.bigcatsgym.com.
