Adam Trey Nichols

March 25, 1987 - December 31, 2018

Adam Nichols, 31, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Monday, December 31, 2018 at his home in Lake Jackson, Texas. Adam was born Wednesday, March 25, 1987 to Steve Nichols and Tracie Falcone in Durant, Oklahoma, where he lived until moving to Lake Jackson with his mother and sister, Stevie, as a child.

Adam attended school in Lake Jackson, graduated from Brazoswood High School in Clute, TX and continued his education at Sam Houston University in Huntsville, TX. Following college, Adam joined his sister in Albuquerque, New Mexico and later re-located to Austin, TX, but ultimately made his home in Brooklyn, New York alongside his childhood best friend, Kyle Devine. Adam was a member of the Lake Jackson United Methodist Church.

Adam spent the majority of his adult years in Brooklyn, where he successfully pursued a career in bar and restaurant management. “Nichols,” as he was affectionately known, managed the popular Hollow Nickel pub in Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill neighborhood. Naturally empathetic and compassionate, Adam had a rare gift for connecting deeply and sincerely with other people and dedicated himself nonstop as a counselor, a boss, a confidante, and a mentor, earning the respect of his employees and patrons alike and forming lifelong friendships with people of all ages and from all walks of life. Adam returned to Lake Jackson in recent years and joined Kyle in fulfilling a dream by establishing The Fill Station, which is now an acclaimed local barbeque and whiskey bar.

Adam naturally lit up a room with the responsive warmth of his beautiful, open smile, which quickly put others at ease. But it was Adam’s humor, his modesty, his intelligence, his decency, and most importantly his love for others that resulted in others trusting him and letting him into their hearts. Adam possessed a competitive spirit, ranging from his childhood basketball prowess to impassioned games of chicken foot, farkle, and skip-bo with family around the dinner table.

Adam is survived by his father Steve Nichols and wife Linda, Alvarado, TX; mother Tracie Roberts Falcone and husband Keith, Roberta, OK; sister Stevie Nichols and husband Michael Gritzbaugh, Cairo, Egypt; grandparents Ken Nichols and wife Nora Rios, Tishomingo, OK; Dwanna Nichols, Cleburne, TX; Billy Jack and Patricia Roberts, Roberta; uncles Greg Nichols and wife Paula, Tishomingo; Steve Roberts and wife Kay Lynn, Roberta; William Roberts, Portland, Maine; close friend Kyle Devine, Lake Jackson; and four step siblings.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at Roberta Baptist Church in Roberta, Oklahoma and a Celebration of Adam’s life will be held Sunday afternoon January 6, 2019 at 2:00 pm at The Fill Station in Lake Jackson, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to scottishritehospital.org.
