Joyce Frances (Montgomery) Barbrick, 83, was born in Connecticut on July 13, 1935. She entered Heaven’s gates on December 26, 2018 in Durant, Oklahoma where she had resided for many years.
Joyce was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always interested in the welfare of others before herself. She loved to bake for her family, friends, and even total strangers when she found out they were having a birthday. Joyce felt that love was the most important to demonstrate in this world (“actions speak louder than words”) and it was the mission of her entire life. This came about due to Joyce’s relationship with Jesus whom she loved with all her heart, soul, and mind. Joyce demonstrated His love in all these ways in addition to volunteering at the Alzheimer’s Center and donating monies to various churches throughout Durant. Joyce carried her love and patriotism for our country to the local fire and police departments by having cakes made and “enough food to feed an army.” She was married to a Vietnam War Air Force Chaplain for 35 years and had a special love for all military branches.
Joyce loved her children deeply: Patty Wyscarver (Gary), Stow, Ohio; Deborah Jarboe (Vernon), Topeka, Kansas; and, Denise Reed, Deltona, Florida. She has 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Joyce was predeceased by granddaughter Lindsay Williams and great-granddaughter Emily Markus. Children held a special place in her heart and she would crochet a baby Afghan for every baby she knew was born.
The family wishes to give Chris Glendening the greatest and warmest gratitude for his faithful support to Joyce as Chris cared for her with deep affection during her life and was especially supportive at the end of her life.
