School board filing period has begun

Candidates for the Board of Education in 10 Bryan County school districts began filing declarations of candidacy on Monday

Linda Fahrendorf, Secretary of the Bryan County Election Board, said the filing period ends at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7.

The Board of Education positions at stake will be filled at the Annual School Election scheduled Feb.14, 2012. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the total votes cast in this election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in an election on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.

Offices for which Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted at the County Election Board office include the following:

Achille 1-3 School District---Office No. 2,(5 yr. term of office.)

Bennington 1-40 school District---Office No. 2,(5 yr term of Office) Boswell I-i School District-—Office No.2,(5 yr. term), Office No. 4 (unexpired 2 year term)

Caddo I-S School District---Office No. 2 (5 yr. term of office)and Office No. 3 (1 yr. unexpired term of office)

Calera 1-48 school District—Office No. 2 (5 yr. term of Office) Colbert 1-4 School District—Office No. 2,(5 yr. term) and Office No. 5 (3 yr. unexpired term) Durant 1-72 school District—Office No. 2 ,(5 yr. term) Kiamichi Technology Center School District No. 7-Office No. S ( 7 yr. term of office) Rock Creek 1-2 school District—Office No. 2(4 yr. term of office) Office No. 3 (4 yr. term) Silo 1-001 School District—Office No. 2 (5 yr. term)
