SE Men carries momentum into road swing

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern basketball will be looking to carry its momentum into a two-game road swing beginning with a 7:30 p.m. matchup with Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Ark., on Feb. 9.

The Savage Storm come into the contest at 8-14 on the year and 4-6 in Great American Conference play, but have won three of the last four outings.

SE will follow with a Saturday game at 5 p.m. at Ouachita Baptist on Feb. 11.

SE also counts a win over HSU among its total, topping the Reddies 77-65 in the conference home opener back on Jan. 12.

Zack Downing poured in 25 points on the strength of five three pointers to lead all scorers in that contest.

Urald King also added 20 points and wrapped up the double-double with 12 rebounds, while Chris Roussell chipped in 15 points in the effort.

Downing and Roussell each dished out four assists.

Downing has remained the top scorer on the season, averaging 12.6 ppg, while King is right behind at 11.7 per outing.

King is also leading the way on the boards with 8.2 rpg, as SE pulls down an average of 35.7 as a team.

Ivan Johnson, Dami Sapara and Roussell have each dished out more than 40 assists on the year.

The Reddies enter the contest with a 13-7 record overall and 8-2 in league play, and have gone 6-1 since SE handed them their first GAC loss.

Denzel Lyles leads the way with 15.7 ppg, while Andrew Ensley is right behind at 15.1 per game.

Ensley is also the team’s top rebounder at 7.3 rpg, while Jonathan Fitzgerald leads the team in assists with 3.2 apg.
