Jack and Johnnye (McElroy) McBee were married seventy years ago on June 6, 1942 in Durant. Both were raised in the Cobb community and are proud graduates of Cobb High School. They first meet at the age of six when Jack and his Uncle Morgan went to the farm of John McElroy to purchase some baby chickens. The rest is history.
Johnnye is retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone (30 years) and from Bryan County Court Clerk’s office (20 years) and still enjoys having lunch with her friends from both places. Jack is retired from Bryan County District No. 1 after 40 years. They have been members of the First United Methodist Church of Durant since 1950. They enjoy fishing, gardening and drives throughout Bryan County.
They are the parents of Noel (wife Linda) of Plano, TX. Proud Grandparents of Mia Tangeman (Dave) of Plano, TX and Kim Grogran (Gary) of Dallas, TX and very active Grand Grandparents of Kyle and Cody Tangeman of Plano, TX; Garrison and Kenzie Grogan of Dallas, Tx.
They recently went to Branson, MO for an anniversary trip and will have a family celebration.
