Stars Mentoring Program to be held

DURANT –The STARs Mentoring Program is a national program of the Miss America Organization, which has been brought to the local level by the Miss Southeast Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant.

The STARs Mentoring Program is for young girls age 5-10 years who live in southeast Oklahoma. The program will take place on Saturday, October 6 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. at Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites, located at 613 University Place in Durant, OK.

Young girls will have the opportunity to attend a workshop and learn about achieving your dreams and building self-confidence. They will also receive an autographed t-shirt and a photo with Haley Eillison, Miss Southeast Oklahoma 2012 and Brittany Trent, Miss Southeast Oklahoma Outstanding Teen.

Participants will also create a custom pageant sash that they will wear to the pageant. They will receive a FREE ticket to the Miss Southeast Oklahoma pageant to be held the following day, Sunday, October 7 at 2 p.m. at Montgomery Auditorium on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where they will be recognized on stage and will be “crowned” Miss Southeast Oklahoma Stars.

Registration is required for the program so that each child will receive a T-shirt.Cost to attend the program is $30 and all proceeds go toward scholarships and assistance for the 2013 titleholders who will be crowned during the Miss Southeast Oklahoma Pageant.
