A jury convicted a man of embezzlement for stealing a revolver when he was police chief of Caddo.
Troy O’Neal Glover, 39, was found guilty during a trial that began Tuesday morning and ended that afternoon. According to a court minute, jurors deliberated approximately 25 minutes before finding Glover guilty of taking the .44 magnum revolver from an evidence locker.
The jury recommended a one-year prison term and a $5,000 fine.
Glover was charged in December after the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation investigated the case.
An affidavit by OSBI Agent Donnie Long states Glover removed a Ruger .44 magnum Redhawk revolver from the evidence room last year and traded it to a man for a Taurus 9 mm pistol.
According to the affidavit, Glover confiscated the revolver during an arrest after a traffic stop in 2007. He was a police officer at that time.
The gun did not belong to the man it was confiscated from and the original owner was entitled to its return.
Upon questioning, Glover said he did remove the gun from the evidence room and allowed someone to use it, but he denied trading it, the affidavit states.
The Caddo Town Council fired Glover after the charges were filed.
Bryan County District Judge Mark Campbell ordered a pre-sentence investigation on Glover and set his sentencing date Oct. 26. Glover’s bond was revoked following the trial and he was taken to an out-of-county jail.
