TUSHKA - Breawna McCraw threw seven innings of shut-out ball and helped her own cause with a pair of hits as the Colbert Lady Leopards downed Wister 4-0 on Thursday.

Jordan Weger’s two-RBI hit started the scoring for Colbert. Samantha Cummins and Hannah Guajardo also logged base hits for the Lady Leopards as they started off the Class 2A regional bracket with the win.

“This was a real team effort, everybody stayed in this ballgame,” said Colbert softball Coach Damon Lewis. “Breawna threw very well and we scored runs when we needed them.”

Rain graced Tushka in the middle of the host Lady Tigers’ game against Latta, and the regional playoffs were postponed. Lewis said play resumes in Tushka at noon, where the Lady Tigers and Latta will pick up their game in progress.

Latta holds a 1-0 lead over sixth-ranked Tushka in the fourth inning, proving what the Lady Panthers showed last week in their district win over Silo.

The loser of this game will face Wister around 1 p.m., and the winner has Colbert around 3:30 p.m.,weather permitting. The rest of the bracket is to be determined and could likely stretch into Saturday.
