Dorothy H. Williams died September 25, 2012. She is survived by Belton, her beloved husband of 66 years; her children, Martha W. Flynn and Thomas B . Williams; grandchildren, Emily Ann Lipnick and Kevin Flynn; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Alice Hammond; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maud and John Hammond, and sisters, Ruby Mae Edge and Ruth Imes. Dorothy was born on July 17, 1924 in McAlester, Oklahoma and graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where she met Belton.

They were married in 1946 when he returned from service in World War II. Dorothy made loving homes for her family in Oklahoma and Texas before moving to the Chicago area in 1958. She and Belton moved to Plymouth, MI in 1979.

Dorothy is remembered fondly by the hundreds of people she taught in elementary school for more than 20 years. She was a supportive and caring teacher who loved her students. Dorothy and Belton were active in the life of Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Dorothy was a leader in the Thursday Morning Bible Study Group for over 30 years.Her contributions included bringing music to the group. She selected music, created songbooks, and took great pleasure in accompanying the ladies’ singing with her autoharp.

Dorothy was devoted to her family and supportive of all their endeavors. She is deeply missed and remembered with love by her family and her many friends.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, October 4 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church, with visitation at 10:00 AM prior to the service. Reverend Mark Fuller will officiate.
