Police: Nine establishments sold beer to underaged

Nine out of 21 locations checked sold beer to an underaged person, according to the Durant Police Department, who conducted “compliance checks” this week.

According to police, people ranging in age from 17-19 entered the locations and tried to purchase beer. Police issued citations to the employees who sold beer to underaged persons.

Police said employees at the following establishments sold beer to the underaged people: Jerry’s Drive-thru, 1300 N. First Ave.; Lucky Stop, 106 S.E. Third Ave.; Lakeway One-Stop, Highway 70 West; Kwik Chek, 2320 W. Main St.; Truck Stop No. 5, 3302 N. Washington Ave.; Pizza Hut, 1119 W. Main St.; Chili’s, 2524 W. Main St.; Sports City Cafe, 5067 S. Ninth Ave. and Ceviche, 729 N. First Ave.
