Samuel “Sam” Robert Tomson, 38, of Durant passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012 in Vici, OK. He was born on February 8, 1974 in Vincennes, IN to Samuel Ray and Catherine (Wininger) Tomson. He went to Red Oak High School in Red Oak, TX. He went on to serve in the Army a little over eight years before moving to Durant from Texas. He later married Tonia Vandenburg on May 30, 2009 in Yuba, OK. He was a truck driver for Big Iron Trucking out of Mead. He enjoyed deer hunting, loved football and spending time with family.
He is preceded in death by his father and step-son, Christopher Williams.
He is survived by his wife; Tonia Tomson of the home, mother Catherine Tomson of Bennington, OK, sons; Tanner Tomson of Mesquite, TX, Russell Tomson of Bokchito, OK, Travis Tomson of Bokchito, OK and Kyle Vandenburg of Durant, OK, daughters; Rena Tomson of Bokchito, OK and Macayla Hickman of Durant, OK, grandson Christopher Sammy Ray Tomson of Mesquite, TX, brothers; Richard Wood of Vincennes, IN and Rob Wood of Bennington, OK, sisters; Mary Wood of Bruceville, IN and Sheila Feagin and husband Bryan of Mesquite, TX, special brother in laws; Danny Vandenburg and wife Brandy of Durant, OK and Bill Hardesty and wife Tina of Hendrix, OK, special friend Tony Mullen and wife Angel of Yarnaby, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 2:00PM in Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Marty Hutchings will be officiating with interment at Jackson Cemetery in Bennington, OK. Family Hour will be on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 6-8:00PM. Pallbearers will be Rob Wood, Danny Vandenburg, Bill Hardesty, Bobby Eugene Vandenburg, Tommy Dillinger, Tony Mullen, Bryan Feagin and AJ Money.
