County Commissioners met on Monday morning. Included in the discussion were needed work on the new county jail and grant applications in the county.

The commissioners approved two proposals for the new county jail. First approved was a walk-in cooler and freezer.

At the advice of the contractor working on the jail project, commissioners agreed to purchase this appliance new.

Other kitchen appliances are still planned to be purchased used. The second proposal approved was one to place a drain under a jail sidewalk.

The placement of the drain will allow water to run under the sidewalk instead of flowing in the walk way.

The sum of both proposals will equal approximately $26,442 for the jail project.

Commissioners also approved a grant application by rural water district No. 2 for upgrades to the Highway 70 pump station and water lines to the pump station.

The commissioners had already approved the water district to apply for the grant but needed to approve the plan for the grant as well.

The water district will also be asking to apply for a second grant in preparation in case it is not approved for the original grant.
