Girls Game:

BOSWELL – Tasha Vinyard scored 31 points on Tuesday night as the Boswell Lady Scorpions cruised to an 81-51 victory over the Bennington Lady Bears. The Lady Scorpions now have a regular season record of 1-1 after a seven-point loss to Tushka in their season opener last week.

“I thought the girls played with a lot of heart tonight,” said Boswell head coach Christi Braudrick after the game. “We were successful with our press and we ran the floor well.” Breosha Williams scored twelve points for Boswell and Madison Cress finished with eleven points. Stacee Bacon also finished in double figures with ten points. The Lady Scorpions started off the game with a full-court press and held the Lady Bears to nineteen points in the first half. “We didn’t have a very deep bench tonight so they had to work hard to keep the press going,” said Braudrick. The Lady Scorpions led 39-19 at the half but the Lady Bears started to hit some shots in the third quarter and their offense looked sharper in the second half. “So far this season we have started slow in the first half and picked it up in the second,” said Bennington coach Steve Harris. “We have to start bringing that same mold to the start of the game.” The Lady Scorpions picked up the pace again in the fourth quarter and outscored Bennington 25-13 in the final frame to close the door. The Lady Bears will look to bounce back this Friday night when they journey to Buffalo Valley for their next contest. The Lady Scorpions will also hit the road on Friday to take on Rattan. Boys Game:

BOSWELL – The Boswell Scorpions bounced back nicely from a season opening loss to the Tushka Tigers with a 71-43 victory over the visiting Bennington Bears on Tuesday night.

Markell Henderson led the way for the Scorpions with 26 points. Cameron Collier finished with eighteen points and Blake Shults chipped in six points. “We played at a tempo that favored us tonight,” said Boswell coach Parker Harless. “We were active on defense and had some deflections. We also shot the ball well and it seemed to go through the hoop for us a lot.” The Scorpions ended the first quarter on a 19-3 scoring run to take a commanding 22-8 lead. Collier scored eleven of his eighteen points in the opening quarter. Boswell continued to play good defense in the second quarter and took a 42-16 lead into the locker room.

The Scorpions held a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game and scored thirteen points in the fourth quarter to end it. Chance Haislip led the Bears in scoring with ten points. Isaac Perez, Ryan Lott, and Tad Holt each finished with eight points. Both teams will be in action again on Friday night. The Bears will travel to Buffalo Valley while the Scorpions will also be on the road against Rattan. “Rattan has a tough squad,” said Harless. “We will be looking to compete and give ourselves a chance to win late in the game.”
