Tammy Reynolds won the position as Bryan County’s county clerk once more. This will be Reynolds’ second term as county clerk.

Her first term lasted only two years as she had taken over the position when the previous clerk retired. Reynolds said she loves her job and plans to keep running for the position until she retires herself.

Reynolds beat out Glenn Russell with 61.63 percent of the vote. Reynolds said she was nervous the night of elections.

“Until you get that first number you’re pacing the floor,” said Reynolds.

She said it was the not knowing that made her nervous until she heard that she won, “then you’re overjoyed,” she said.

The county clerk has many responsibilities in the county. According to Reynolds, the county clerk is the bookkeeper for such things as all land records and old school records.

The county clerk also acts as secretary to all three county commissioners, the Excise Board members and the Equalization Board members.

“I’ve got a full plate,” said Reynolds, “but I’m very fortunate to have a really good staff.”

Reynolds said it is an honor to be re-elected as county clerk.

“It lets me know the people trust me to do the job,” said Reynolds.
