Southeastern opened the men’s basketball season Saturday with a 124-55 win over Dallas Christian College at Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

All but four Savage Storm players reached double figures in a game which had the feel of last month’s exhibition openers against Division I schools – only in reverse.

Senior forward Urald King led the output with 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting with 13 rebounds. Steven Kohli (senior forward) posted a 20-10 night and 6-9 freshman Andis Malahovskis of Latvia scored 10 points and grabbed 13 boards in his collegiate debut.

Junior guard Travis Timmons posted a double-double as well with 13 points and 16 of the Storm’s 33 total assists. Freshmen guards Quinton Threadgill of Haworth and Andris Misters of Latvia scored 14 each in their official debut games.

Chris Roussell, the senior guard from Edgard, La., scored 10 points. Antonio Worthy and fan favorite James Harris scored six each; Mateus Oliveira and Veljko Lukic scored three apiece.

Malcolm McCarty led the Crusaders (0-5) with 15 points.

Not surprisingly, the Savage Storm ran the table in almost every statistical category. They shot 64 percent to DCC’s 26 percent, including a 52 percent mark (12-23) from behind the arc. Southeastern had 68 rebounds to 25 for Dallas Christian, and assists favored the Storm 33-8.

Southeastern led 66-30 at the break and went on to outscore the Crusaders 58-25 in the second half.

The Savage Storm join Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Nazarene with 1-0 non-conference starts among GAC member schools. Southwestern is already 0-1. Two home games await the Storm on Thursday against Union (7 p.m. start) and Saturday against Arkansas-Fort Smith (8 p.m.).
