On Monday afternoon, when Oklahoma Christian University comes to town to battle the Savage Storm women’s basketball team, it will be a homecoming of sorts for a pair of visiting Eagles.

Durant graduate Katy O’Steen and Savanna native Makenzie Brown (whose grandparents reside in the Durant area) are on the OCU roster. Brown is a 6’-0”sophomore center who made a splash at the NCAA track and field finals last season with record-setting discus throws.

O’Steen, on the other hand, saved all her splash for the Savage Storm when they visited OCU last week. She lit up Southeastern for 26 points in a 98-77 Eagle victory, which earned the 6’-1” senior the player of the week honors in the Heartland Conference.

Since OCU is new to this conference, O’Steen has the distinction of being the school’s first-ever Heartland Player of the Week.

The Savage Storm (0-2) are hoping these local ladies’ first trip to Bloomer Sullivan Arena is not so friendly. The Southeastern defense will clearly have its hands full as they look to notch their first win of the season against the Eagles. Game time is 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The game will conclude three straight days of basketball at BSA, following Saturday’s game against SOSU men and Arkansas-Fort Smith and today’s NBADL game between the Texas Legends and Santa Cruz (Calif.) Warriors.
