The Calera Volunteer Fire-Rescue Department will be at the Calera Dollar General Store on Saturday December 15th from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. collecting items for the Calera area Needy Family Food drive. The fire department’s goal is to fill the fire truck for local needy families this season. The department is asking for non-perishable donations to help “hose down hunger.”

The Calera area churches, organizations and businesses are joining forces with the Calera Volunteer Fire-Rescue Department to help make this year the best Christmas ever for those in need. Each year the Needy Family Food drive organizers accept non-perishable food items which are delivered before Christmas to needy families in the Calera area. You can help by donating money or canned goods to this worthwhile cause.

Donations can be dropped off at the Calera City Hall Monday – Friday or to one of the local churches. Those wanting to make monetary donations can make checks out to “Needy Family Fund”. The Fire Department will be at the Calera Dollar General Store on Saturday, December 15 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. accepting donations as well as taking donations during the annual Christmas Parade Saturday, December 8 at 11:00 a.m.
