SILO – Austin Beene and Bradley McKnight combined for 50 points in a 58-43 Achille win over Wapanucka on Tuesday.
The victory puts the Eagles in the winner’s bracket of the Silo Invitational Tournament. Their next game will be a re-match against Springer at 8:45 p.m. Friday in Silo. Springer defeated Achille in the first game of the season.
“We know what Springer has, and we’re looking for another shot at them,” said Achille Coach Nick Beene.
Achille came out tentative on Tuesday, taking a 10-9 lead after one quarter and ahead 20-18 at the break. It was a 21-9 third quarter which broke the game open for the Eagles.
“They focused their whole defense on Austin (Beene),” said the Achille coach. “They made him work for it. But Bradley relaxed and knocked down five threes, and he had some drives.”
Beene scored 27 and McKnight had23 in the contest. Lane Manry scored four for Achille. Nathan Wall led the Indians with 17 points.
Achille girls 75 Wapanucka 16
SILO – Several Lady Eagles got into the score column in a decisive win over the Lady Indians. Marissa Williams, Kayla Wright and Mallory Phelps led the charge with 10 points apiece.
Stephanie Morgan and Madison Stanglin scored seven each. Four players had six points: Cheyenne Crisp, Maggie Back, Kiersten Brown and Ryan Tomlinson. Kristin Horn scored four.
Achille will face Springer at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the tournament winner’s bracket. The Lady Indians will go up against Silo JV at 5 p.m. Thursday.

SILO – Quan Brown led the Cardinals with 20 points in a tournament win over the JV Rebels. Trenton Long led Silo with 13.
Silo JV will play Wapanucka at 6:15 p.m. Thursday.
Springer girls 46, Silo JV 11
SILO – Britney White scored 20 and Audrey White had 16 as the Lady Cardinals cruised past the JV Lady Rebels in tournament action on Tuesday. Hadley Clower scored seven of Silo’s 11 points.
