Lavelle Ray (McLarry) Clay

Lavelle Ray (McLarry) Clay entered this life on Sunday, July 2, 1922 in Blue Ridge, Texas to Vert Raymond and Hattie White McLarry and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 22, 2012 in Denison, Texas at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 20 days.

Lavelle moved with her family to Bryan County in November 1924 and she graduated from Colbert High School in 1941. She married Robert Clay on June 20, 1946 in Denison and they were married for 59 years until Robert’s death on May 20, 2005. Lavelle worked as a seamstress until her retirement. She was of the Baptist faith and she enjoyed cooking, sewing and she dearly loved her family and friends.

Lavelle was preceded in death by her parents Vert and Hattie McLarry; husband Robert Clay; grandsons Brad Pate and Todd Clay; brother Virgil McLarry and sisters Edna Goodin, Beatrice Collum and Viola McLarry.

Lavelle is survived by her children Larry Clay and wife Linda of Cartwright, OK Rene’ Jestis and husband Olen of Soper, OK, Letetia Pate and husband John of Durant, OK, Robert Clay and wife Karen of McAlester, OK and Connie Barnett and husband Gary of Kingston, OK; sister Norma Moore of Longview, TX; grandchildren Landon Jestis and wife Leandra, Lynn Jestis and wife Tiffani, Heather Clay, Aaron Clay and wife Kylie, Brandon Barnett and wife Kristin, Brent Barnett, Christie Thomas and Jodi Grover and husband David; great grandchildren Lainey, Luke, Lex, Andrew and Gavin Jestis, Caleb, Easton and Bella Clay, Avery and Brenna Barnett, Tristin, Ciara and Kira Pruitt, Eli, Isaiah and Micah Grover and Courtney Welch and Scott Clay; great great grandchild Jayden Priddy and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Lavelle’s life will be held at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Colbert, Oklahoma. Landon Jestis and Rev. Roddy Arnold will officiate. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Brandon Barnett, Brent Barnett, Aaron Clay, Lynn Jestis and Landon Jestis serving as pallbearers.
