Monday, Dec. 31 is the deadline for one-half payments on property taxes in Bryan County. County Treasurer Nancy Conner said that payments can be made in multiple ways.
She said property owners can pay at the office located at in the courthouse annex at 323 W. Beech St. in Durant.
Payments can be brought into the office through the east entrance or placed in the new drop box at the west side of the building.
Payments can be mailed to the office or paid online at www.bryan.countytreasurers.com as well. If making a half payment, the payment must be in the office or post marked Dec. 31 or earlier.
Conner said if paying online property owners can either pay using credit card which will be charged a 2.5 percent convenience fee or by e-check which is charged a $1.50 fee.
This fee is paid to third party processors. People placing payments in the drop box may get a bit a leeway. “We will be closed January 1,” said Conner.
Conner said any payment in the drop box when she arrives back at work on Jan. 2 will be assumed to have been made on Dec. 31.
Full payments will be accepted until Jan. 15. After this date, all payments will be considered delinquent and will accrue penalties, according to Conner.
Penalties are 1.5 percent per month or 18 percent per year. Conner said if any property owner has questions, to call the county treasurer’s office at (580) 924-0748.
The county treasurer’s office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Conner said that due to a chain of events, statements were sent out late this year.

She said she apologizes to the property owners and if there are any special situations they can be discussed with her after the first of the year.
