Leon Kapchinsky a longtime resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the age of 75 years 7 months and 24 days. He was born in Kemp, Oklahoma to Ed and Edith (Dillard) Kapchinsky on Monday, May 3, 1937. Leon married Frances Hoskins in Durant, Oklahoma at the Lee Heights Baptist Church on Saturday, March 7, 1959.

Leon was a resident of Oklahoma for many years. Leon earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. He was a manager for the Goodyear Tire Co. and retired from Casteel’s Tire Barn after working there for 15 years. Leon served as a pastor of the Utica Baptist Church and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church in Durant.

Mr. Kapchinsky is survived by his wife Frances of the home; daughter, Kim Kapchinsky and Stanley Hopkins of Caddo, Oklahoma; son, Steve Kapchinsky and wife Margaret of San Antonio, Texas; grandson, Derrick Kapchinsky of Alberquerque, New Mexico; granddaughter, Brittney Richter and husband Wesley of San Antonio, Texas; sisters,Ruth Ann Griffin and husband Dale of Sherman, Texas and Linda Besett and husband Bill of Santa Fe, New Mexico; special aunt, Ruby Kapchinsky of Claremore, Oklahoma; sister-in-laws, Steve Anna Lyles and husband Donald of Durant, Oklahoma and Norma Moody and husband Clyde of Pasadena, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Mr. Kapchinsky was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Edith Kapchinsky.

Family Hour will be Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 31, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Durant with Rev. James Robinson officiating. Interment will be at the Highland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Davis, Paul Buntz, Mike Metheny, J.C. Curtis and Rick Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Hopkins, Derrick Kapchinsky, Brandon Lyles, Chuck Carroll and Christopher Pearson.
