Tim C. Cotner a resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life in Denison, Texas on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the age of 88 years 8 months and 26 days. He was born in Calera, Oklahoma on Monday, April 7, 1924 to Walter G. and Una Pearl (Willingham) Cotner. Tim married Betty Gregg in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Sunday, December 21, 1947.

Tim was the owner/operator of the Cotner Cotton Gin for 30 years and worked as the Maintenance Director/Purchasing Director for Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Durant, Oklahoma and served as their church treasurer. Tim had a servant’s heart and cared for others by delivering Meals on Wheels. He also cared about the youth of our community and served as Scoutmaster to troop 615 for many years. Tim enjoyed being outside fishing, hunting, playing golf and especially working in his yard. He was an active member of the NRA and enjoyed watching OSU football. Tim loved and cherished his family most of all and considered them the greatest blessing of his life. Mr. Cotner is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; son, Gregg Cotner and wife Maggie of Swaffhome Prior, England; daughters, Carla Jordan and husband Odell of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Sarah Schild and husband Jeff of Murphy, Texas and Pam Lowry and Bill of Sherman, Texas; sister, Dale Ashe of Colbert, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cotner was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Pearl Cotner; sisters, Helen Cotner, Dorothy Sweeney and Ann Berman; brother, W.G. Cotner, Jr.

A Memorial Service in his honor will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 at the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Durant, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations may be made in Tim’s honor to the St. John’s Episcopal Church, 515 W. Beech St., Durant, Oklahoma 74701.
