Else McCollum a resident of Colbert, Oklahoma passed from this life in Denison, Texas on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the age of 91 years 11 months 24 days. She was born on Wednesday, February 2, 1921 in Ahausen by Weilburg, Germany to Oskar and Lissette (Gobel) Dienst. Else married Wendell H. McCollum in Durant, Oklahoma on Wednesday, January 5, 1949.
Else was a woman who committed her life to caring for her family and home. She was a member of the Rebeka Lodge and the Coleman Avenue Church of Christ. Else retired from the Levi Corportation after working for them for 45 years. She enjoyed gardening but she was best known for her loving heart and the unselfish care she gave to others.
Mrs. McCollum is survived by her son, Manfred McCollum and wife Brenda of Colbert, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tanji Fuller of Denison, Texas, Manfred McCollum, Jr., of Colbert, Oklahoma and Lissette McCollum of Howe, Texas; great-grandchildren, Charlsee Fuller of Denison, Texas and Michael Shelton, Jr. of Howe, Texas; brother, Manfred Dienst of Germany.
Mrs. McCollum was preceded in death by her parents, Oskar and Lissette Dienst; husband, Wendell H. McCollum; sisters, Frieda, Irmgard and Anni.
Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service in her honor will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Coleman Ave. Church of Christ in Colbert, Oklahoma with Quinton Gage and Richard Gage officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories in Colbert, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Purdue, Robert Fuller, Michael Shelton, Terry Adams, Fred Jackson, and Bud Carver.
