TULSA - The Durant Lady Lions season came to an end during 5-A Regional play in Tulsa on Thursday night as they fell to the Tulsa East Central Lady Cards 65-35.

Tulsa came in to game with a 15-8 record, losing only to 6-A teams and undefeated against 5-A teams.

Effort was shown by the Lady Lions, but cold shooting and turnovers plagued the team all night.

Kenzi Clapp led the team in scoring with 14 points, followed by Shelbi Barrett with 12 points.

It was the Kenzi Clapp show in the first period. Clapp scored 8 of her 14 points in the quarter and was the only Lady Lion to score in the period. The Lady Cards dominated the paint and went on runs of 9-to-5 and 13-to-3. The Lady Cards had a comfy 22-8 first period lead.

Only six points were posted by the Lady Lions in the second period and it all came from Barrett. She was fouled at the 3-point line and made all of her free throws and she also hit a deep 3-pointer as the Lady Cards rolled and put up 12 points. The Lady Lions trailed at the half, 34-14.

The Lady Lions attempted to close the gap in the third period, making four 3-pointers by Clapp, Barrett and Alexa Richards. However, the Lady Cards offensive rebounding couldn’t be stop and Tulsa led 53-30 headed into the final frame.

Scoring slowed down for the Lady Lions in the fourth period as they put up only 5 points on the scoreboard, in contrast to the Lady Cards 12 points and the Lady Lions season comes to a close with a 65-35 loss.

Lady Lions scorers: Clapp 14 points, Barrett 12 points, A. Richards 4 points, Katie Caraway 2 points and Sierra Wilhite 2 points.
