BOSWELL – The best of Bryan County Conference basketball was on full display Tuesday at the annual conference all-star games.

The two most valuable players both sat out the game. Boswell’s Markell Henderson was sidelined after a knee injury last week, but he did participate in the three-point shooting contest and nearly won until Calera’s Johnathan Diamond lit up the nets.

The girls MVP, Darian Bradford, didn’t dress out with the rest of the Lady Leopards or Silo Lady Rebels, as both teams compete later this week in the Class 2A Area playoffs. Her teammate, Ginavee Mowles, won the three-point shooting contest shooting in jeans and casual shoes.

This year’s all-conference boys team included Kendall Shives (Silo), Austin Beene (Achille), Lane Faulkenberry (Tushka), Peyton Joines (Caddo) and Cameron Collier (Boswell).

The girls all-conference team consists of Tobi Miller (Caddo), Kenslie Stanley (Silo) and a trio of Colbert Lady Leopards: Taylor Lyons, Katherine Hair and Ginavee Mowles.

The boys game ended in a 91-85 score as the light jerseys tied the game late before one more run from the dark jerseys. Shives lobbed an accidental alley-oop to Silo teammate Lance House to put the game out of reach.

Shives led all scorers with 16 points, which included a half-court basket early in the second half. Leo Roper (Rock Creek) and Preston Rice (Colbert) each scored 14.

The girls game was a bit more of a runaway with a final score of 102-50 for the dark jerseys. Devyn Johnson (Rock Creek) scored 27 points and Taylor Pickett (Calera) had 23. Pickett hit seven three-pointers.

The girls were sharp from behind the arc, hitting a combined total of 28 from downtown. Boswell’s Stacee Bacon threw a block party to prevent the dark jerseys from reaching the century mark, but Harlie Heflin (Rock Creek) muscled in for a layup in the final minute.

Jarris Hamilton of Silo won the slam dunk contest.
