Man accused of assaulting deputy

Two Bryan County Sheriff’s deputies and one Durant Police officer were involved in an altercation Wednesday on Roberts Drive, east of Durant.

According to Bryan County Sheriff Ken Golden, The sheriff’s office received a call stating there was a man carrying a gun. When deputies arrived, they found that a woman had fainted at the end of the road.

One deputy stayed with the woman while his partner went to confront the to the man who was allegedly carrying a gun.

When the officer asked to speak to the man, he refused to come out of his house but told the officer he could come in, according to Golden

Golden said the man then charged at the deputy when the door was opened and a fight then ensued. A Durant officer arrived to assist the deputy and was struck in the head by the man.

The Durant officer then used pepper spray to defuse the situation. No serious injuries occurred.
