Hugh M. Hull a resident of Blue, Oklahoma passed from this life on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the age of 94 years 10 months and 27 days. He was born in Turkey, Texas on Monday, April 15, 1918 to John Melton and Maggie Luella (Pope) Hull. Hugh married Mary Hazel Jaynes on December 12, 1946.

Hugh served his country in the United States Army from October 22, 1943 through May 4, 1946 by the supervising and care of 60 pack animals and crews handling stock. He taught men how to pack artillery pieces on animals, how to handle animals on trips including feeding and shoeing. He made reports on animals and activities of the group. Hugh operated a 300 acre farm at Wellington, Texas up to November 1943. He plowed, planted and harvested corn, and feed crops using horse teams and a tractor. He cared for hogs and cattle, butchered his own stock, broke horses and did other routine farm chores. Hugh took part in rodeos during the summer months and worked some as a cowhand on ranches. He was a member of the Blue Church of Christ. Hugh also raised Olivia Gordon Sims Barton from 13 months old til she married and also raised Zula Jo Sims Carlton from the age of 11.

Mr. Hull is survived by his daughter, Olivia Sims-Barton of Calera, Oklahoma; raised as daughter, Zula Jo (Sims) Burroughs Carlton of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Wanda A. Hull of Blue, Oklahoma, six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

Mr. Hull was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maggie Hull; wife, Mary Hazel Hull in 2003; son, Hugh Michael Hull in 2007; brothers, Hazen Melton Hull, Wayne Marcus Hull, Alfred Maxie Hull and half brother, Eldridge Rufus Hull; sisters, Lina Young, Ruth Vaughan, Inez Butler; half sisters, Vera and Ruthie Hull.

Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 PM Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Rosehill Cemetery in Calera with Bro. Roger Speers officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons Bryan Gerald Barton, Michael Shane Barton, Ray Hull, Jimmy Hull, Mark Mewzel and Mike Mewzel. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Burroughs, Tom Jaynes and great-grandsons, Tyler Hull, Jacus Hull, Steven Dudley, Braxton Barton, Rylee Barton, Aaron Barton and Tanner Barton.
