Ralph Elbert St. John, a resident of Piedmont, Oklahoma passed away in Oklahoma City on Saturday March 16, 2013 at the age of 81. He was born on August 27, 1931 in Cade, Oklahoma to Elbert Brazil and Mary Etta St. John.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, and 5 months; Lorene St. John of Piedmont, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Darin Ballard of Savoy, Texas; daughter Martha Gray and grandson Matthew Gray both of Piedmont, Oklahoma; sisters Dorothy Ward of Wichita Falls, Texas and Ina Robinson of Durant, Oklahoma along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Etta and Elbert St. John of Cade, Oklahoma; brothers Arvil, Estel, Hollis, Murray, Murrel, Jim; sisters Zoe, Esther, Nadine, Vera Gray, Edith Sharp, Imogene Bartley and Maxine West.

Ralph proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, bookkeeping, and most of all working with his cattle.

He attended the Church of Christ in Piedmont, Oklahoma serving as an elder for 25 yrs. and he had a deep love for the congregation.

He also graduated from the Elk City School of Preaching in the late 70’s and preached as well as performed numerous weddings and funerals. Ralph was employed by Southwestern Bell and AT&T for 35 yrs. He then formed his own company B&R Telcom, and was contracted by Kerr McGee until they sold in 2006. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Services are scheduled for Wednesday March 20, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Brown’s Funeral Service. Ed Hilliard and E.B. St. John will officiate. Interment will follow in Bennington Cemetery with Darin Ballard, Matthew Gray, Brooks West, Troy Engleton, Dave Fuller and Mike Ward serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Eudis St. John, Paul Ward, David Pittman, Marty Fox and E.B. St. John. The family will receive friends Tuesday March 19, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Brown’s Funeral Service.
