John K. Mathews, 39, died at the scene of the 1:41 crash, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
According to the patrol, Mathews was eastbound in a 1994 Ford utility vehicle when he drove off the roadway, struck some trees and rolled 1.5 times. Mathews, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected and unsafe speed was cited in Trooper Robby Keeling’s report as the cause of the crash.
The Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and the Colbert Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Services for Mathews are pending with Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
