Leo Henry Nugent, Jr. (Jay) passed away and entered his heavenly, eternal rest February 4, 2013, following complications related to lung cancer. Jay was born April 25, 1938, to Hilda and Leo Henry Nugent in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Jay attended high school in Kenner, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans, after which he joined the Navy. He spent his early adult life working as plant manager for steel building manufacturing companies in Houston, Texas, where he raised his family. He loved country music, dancing, playing golf, cooking out on the grill, and telling jokes and stories.

In later years, he moved to Grand Prairie, Texas where he and his loving wife, Ann, enjoyed many friends and retirement.

He recently moved to Durant, Oklahoma with his wife to be closer to her wonderful extended family of sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and great-nieces. Jay had a wonderful sense of humor, never met a stranger and loved to laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Nugent; his mother, Hilda Beach; his daughters and their husbands, Kim Nugent-Anderson and Austin Anderson and Jacque and David Hook; his stepson, Stacey Scalf; and, his grandchildren, Austin and Alex Anderson, Jessica and Gillian Hook and Mackylie Ann Scalf.

The family is grateful for the support of Durant Methodist Church, and the amazing ICU nurses and technicians at Arlington Memorial Hospital.

Jay’s memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. February 9, 2013, in the chapel of Brown’s Funeral Service, Durant, Oklahoma.
