Mary Elizabeth (Green) Lewsaw a resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed away at the King’s Daughter and Sons Nursing Home on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the age of 91 years 6 months and 25 days. She was born in Durant, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 16, 1921 to Clarence and Bertha Lillie (Powell) Green. Mary Green married Woodrow Lewsaw in Durant, Oklahoma on Saturday, March 23, 1940.
Mary was in retail sales working for Pullen’s Department Store, White’s Ready to Wear and Edyth’s Style Shop. She was a lifetime resident of Durant, Oklahoma and graduated from Durant High School. Mary was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Durant, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Lewsaw is survived by her; daughter, Elizabeth A. Lewsaw of Durant, Oklahoma; grandson, Tillman W. Hale of Durant, Oklahoma; sisters, Velma Hemperley of Denison, Texas, Emma Hull of Durant, Oklahoma and Betty Harris of Durant, Oklahoma; brother, Clarence “Bud” Green, Jr. of Durant, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Lewsaw was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Bertha Green, Sr.; husband, Woodrow Lewsaw.
Family Hour will be from 1-2:00 PM (before the service) on Friday, February 15, 2013 at First Church of the Nazarene in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Services in her honor will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 15, 2013 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Bro. Skip Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald W. Harris, Charles Holder, Mark Hemperley and D. Mike Riley. Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Hull, Justin Holder, Brent Hemperley, Carl Stephens, Floyd Mitchell, J.D. Harris, Tillman L. Hale, Chad Riley, Jason Riley and Sean Hemperley.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Mary’s name to the Alzheimer’s, Oklahoma-Arkansas Chapter 2448 E. 81st Street Suite 3000, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74137-4250.
