Bonnie Newell married Charley “Gene” Butler in Bennington, Oklahoma, on Saturday, April 7, 1951. Bonnie Butler, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Friday, March 1, 2013, at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 7 days. She was born in Enloe, Texas, on Friday, December 25, 1931, to Charley Elmer and Audra Tildon Newell. Bonnie was a woman who dedicated her life to caring for her home and family. She was a former member of the Calvary Baptist Church and a current member of the First Baptist Church in Durant. Bonnie spent many hours ironing and sewing for the public. She was “Momma Bonnie” to hundreds of children who received her special care and loving nature in her home daycare. But most of all she loved special family gatherings like Christmas when she could spend time with her family.

Mrs. Butler is survived by her; daughters, Bonnie Webb and husband Billy of Durant, Oklahoma; Carla McDaniel and husband Calvin of Denison, Texas; sons, Ricky Butler and wife Rhonda of Durant, Oklahoma, and Chris Butler and wife Dianna of Sherman, Texas; grandchildren, Matt Webb and wife Kelly of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ryan Webb and wife Yvette of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Nathan Williams and wife Cecily of Coleman, Oklahoma, Robert Williams and wife Chelsea of Lawton, Oklahoma, Billy Butler and wife Jenna of Yuma, Arizona, Melissa Poore of Boswell, Oklahoma, April McClure and husband Phillip of Durant, Oklahoma, Magan Marie Downs and husband Kyle of Durant, Oklahoma, Gordon Dale White, Jr. of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Caleb and Alana Butler of Sherman, Texas; great-grandchildren, Katie and Maggie Webb of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Savanna Webb of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Caitlin and Joshua Williams, Hadyn Burns of Coleman, Oklahoma, Trenton Turner, Emma Butler and Caitlyn Jarvis-Butler of Yuma, Arizona, Dalton and Eric Poore of Oregon, Zachery Miller of Durant, Oklahoma, Breah Williams of Boswell, Oklahoma, Glenn Gage Jr., Clinton Don and Emily Gayle, P.J. McClure of Durant, Oklahoma and Rayelyn Whitson of Coleman, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Butler, parents, Charley and Audra Newell; brother, Royce Newell; and sister, Willie Mae Lambert.

Family Hour was at 6-7:00 PM on Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.

A celebration of her life was held at the First Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. James Robinson officiating. Internment will follow at the Bokchito Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bonnie’s grandsons. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Nursery Program.
