James Harold Arthur was born on November 10, 1925 in Caney, Oklahoma to William Charles and Margaret Florence Arthur and went home to be his Lord and Savior on March 12, 2013 in Celina, Texas at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 2 days.

James, a lifelong resident of Atoka County attended school at Post Oak and graduated from Caney Public School. He married Oleta Dot Potts on May 27, 1948 in Atoka and they cherished each other for 63 plus years until Oleta’s death on November 9, 2011. James was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.

James was preceded in death by his parents, William Charles and Margaret Florence Arthur; sisters, Gladys, Edna, Lorene, Deanie and Muriel and brothers, Woodrow, Bill and Fred.

James is survived by his children, Brenda Hankey and husband Don of Gunter, TX, Diane Mincher of Tioga, TX and Steve Arthur and wife Lynn of Bonham, TX; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A celebration of James’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Caney. Dennis Taylor and Jeremy Parham will officiate. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo with DC Taylor, James Taylor, Bob Alford, Charles Noak, Donald Houser, Bob Taylor, Randy Taylor, Mark Taylor and Jack Bagby serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday afternoon March 15, 2013 from 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
